Teams

This page highlights our Panther Battalion special teams. These teams are the Battalion's extracurricular teams that practice after school and compete at drill meets throughout the year. There are currently eight teams in the Battalion.

Academic Team

The Academic Team is dedicated to studying SAT and ACT subjects (math, science, and English writing and reading), basic JROTC knowledge, and current events. They compete in the annual online Army JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) and some Drill Meets.

Robotics

The Robotics Team is a collaborative group dedicated to crafting and operating small robots for competitive events. Their mission revolves around creating the ultimate robot capable of achieving a specific point target. Team members specialize in a range of skills, including design, programming, and hands-on operation, working harmoniously to bring their mechanical vision to life and excel in the realm of robotics competitions.

Color Guard

Color guard is one of the most visible parts of the Battalion as they present and post the colors at events and during competitions. Color Guard is follows strict interpretation of TC 3-21.5, the regulation covering Drill and Ceremony. The Varsity Color Guards perform and compete in regional Drill meets and is split into the male and female teams.

CyberPatriot Team

The CyberPatriot team learns about cybersecurity as well as other STEM disciplines. During competitions, they are tasked with finding the vulnerabilities and strengthening the security of various operating systems using virtual images.

Drill Team

The Drill team performs marches and performs with demilitarized M1903 Springfield Rifles. 

The drill teams practices two different types of drill: Regulation drill, or drill according to TC 3-21.5, and exhibition drill, which is more freestyle, and involves spins and throws.

Leadership Team

The leadership team studies the fundamentals of leadership, JROTC curriculum on a more advanced level (compared to Academic Team), and US military history. They compete in the annual online Army JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLABs).

Physical Training Team

The physical training team focuses on improving overall physical fitness and participate in 5 events: push ups, sit ups, pull ups, and running (usually 4x100 yards relay races). 

The PT team also trains to compete in regional Drill Meets, which usually consists of the events mentioned above.

AVR/Drone Team

The AVR/Drone team is dedicated to advancing autonomous aerial vehicle technology, equipping drones with cutting-edge AVR (Automatic Vehicle Routing) technology. This specialized group collaborates to unlock the full potential of automation and precise navigation, optimizing the functionality of these drones. They use drones and spherical devices to tackle various objectives in a simulated game environment, mimicking real-world scenarios like firefighting and more.
