Dear Father, 

You know I am grieving deeply right now. I know that you have promised comfort to those who mourn, but sometimes it seems a long time coming.

Grant me peace and patience during this time of loss and grieving,

Bless me with Your loving care and compassion, so I may face each day supported by the tender awareness of Your presence and Your love.

Help me to know I am never alone in my grieving, but am always accompanied by Your Blessed Spirit of Wisdom and understanding.

Grace me with Your healing.  AMEN

God I thank you that your Spirit goes before us in all circumstances, and your abiding love will not leave me.  Be with me as I begin a journey through understanding and coping with this illness.  I pray  that you bring clarity of understanding to all who are treating me and that you would bring me  peace and hope.  I pray that I can be spared all undue suffering and that my friends, family and neighbours will rally around me to provide comfort and support.

Where there is fear, bring comfort; where there is pain, bring relief; where there is sadness, bring solace.  Loving God, where there is loneliness, bring fellowship of family and friends. I thank you for your presence with us all now and forever.  Amen.
