MEDIA LITERACY

Media literacy is an important skill to have, not just at a student but also as a human being. We are now living in a digitalized world, and it is continuing to advance in this field. According to Vinney (2022) media literacy is being able to critically translate the messages, signs and symbols transmitted through mass media. Students need to be prepared for higher institutions at the lower level that they are right now. This is because when most students get to higher institutions, they barely know anything about the use of ICT and how it can aid them in their schoolwork. 

It is not only students who need an introduction into media literacy, it is the teachers as well. Some teachers are just as clueless as students when it comes to media literacy. This is why there should be programmes created specifically to train both teachers and students in media literacy.
