According to copyright.gov, copyright is an intellectual property that protects an author's original work from being plagiarized as soon as the author fixes the work in a tangible form of expression. This law can protect anything from paintings to academic work. It ensures that every author that is protected by it does not get his/her work plagiarized.
When it comes to schools, a lot of students are not taught what plagiarism is and how it will work at higher institutions. Since learners will have access to unlimited information once ICT is safely integrated into schools, they will need to be taught about ethics/copyright to ensure that they do not plagiarize. Therefore, this act has to start with the teachers so that they know how to raise awareness about his situation and how it can be avoided.
One way this can be avoided is by creating a school website where learners can submit their work and check for plagiarism before they submit to the teacher. This will train them for higher institutions and ever the corporate environment should they choose not to study further.
