Councils

Diocesan Committees on Scouting are formed to give guidance, vitality, and leadership in the spiritual aspect of Scouting to all Catholic Scouts and Scouters of the diocese. The committee endeavors to make the entire Scouting program available to increasing numbers of youth in parish units and in units operated by other Catholic organizations.

Scout units are owned and operated by their respective chartered organization (i.e., the civic, faith-based, or educational institution sponsoring the unit). These units include Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venture Crews, Varsity Teams, and Sea Scout Ships. Chartered organizations, therefore, bear the responsibility and the right to choose Scout leaders for their units who will advance the philosophy and purpose of that chartered organization. Catholic parishes, schools, and other institutions sponsoring Scout units, in union with the Archbishop and the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting (ACCS), should choose leaders whose lives are consistent with Church teaching and who are willing to accept the teachings of the Catholic Church as they exercise leadership roles within those units.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia Catholic Committee on Scouting is composed of representatives of the Archdiocese and of each of the three councils located within the Archdiocese;

Chester County Council

Cradle of Liberty Council

Washington Crossing Council
