ShOT is a group of universities that share online part of the doctoral training they provide to their PhD students in economics. If you are a PhD candidate studying economics at one of the participating institutions - City University of London, Middlesex University, Oxford Brookes University, Royal Holloway University of London, University of Bath, University of East Anglia, University of Essex, University of Reading, University of Sussex - you can apply to attend any of the doctoral courses that these universities share online through ShOT. During the 2023/24 Academic Year, the following courses will be available through ShOT:

Students admitted to attend online courses will be granted the "auditor" status as a benchmark - that is, admitted students will be able to attend the online lectures and will have access to the teaching material provided by the instructor of the host universities. However, please check the details of the specific course of interest: there may be cases in which the host university is able to accept external students under "full enrolment" status - that is, the external student will be allowed to do coursework and receive feedback (as well as marks and credits where applicable).

Five universities participating in ShOT are also part of the SeNSS Economics Pathway. This partnership allows PhD students to benefit from further training and exchange opportunities within the SeNSS network (click here to see a list of open events).

ShOT Managing Directors: Simone Valente (University of East Anglia) and Stefania Lovo (University of Reading)
