Explaining Immigration Detention in Greece
Co-applicant: Andriani Fili, Research Associate, Faculty of Law
Project Summary
This project sets out plans to create a series of short, accessible videos about immigration detention in Greece, to inform public understanding and debate, at a time when the numbers confined are growing and conditions of their detention are worsening. It draws on a decade worth of academic research in Greece and develops new partnerships with legal practitioners offering support and advice to the most vulnerable of those in the detention system. The videos will illuminate the growing intersections between practices of immigration detention and asylum reception, which have been previously legally distinct. They will be hosted on the Border Criminologist website and disseminated via partnerships with advocates and contacts with journalists to people in Greece and the UK.
