About The Experience

This experience is designed to help you turn to Jesus Christ by better understanding and applying His gospel. In Alma 31:5 we read "And now, as the preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just—yea, it had had more powerful effect upon the minds of the people than the sword, or anything else, which had happened unto them—therefore Alma thought it was expedient that they should try the virtue of the word of God." This is the mantra of this experience! 

If you'd like to be part of a group that is sincerely trying to overcome the same challenges you have by becoming better disciples of Jesus Christ then this experience is for you! 

We understand that, however, this isn't for everyone. If you are just starting to talk about your involvement with pornography and are not ready to open up to others you might benefit from more personal resources. This is not a professional counseling service either, if you feel like you need professional services talk with your bishop and review the options listed in the resource section. Prayerfully consider what options will work best for you. 

The experience includes:

• Cohort: You will move through this experience in a cohort. You will start and end the experience by participating in a retreat with members of the stake presidency and your peers. You will engage with each other throughout the experience, building trust and accountability by supporting each other. 

• Lessons: You will meet with a member of the Stake Presidency each week to study the doctrine of Christ, emphasizing how to overcome pornography.   

  • Week 1: Honesty & Accountability 

  • Week 2: Repentance

  • Week 3: Sex and the Plan of Happiness

  • Week 4: Agency & Responsibility

  • Week 5: Habits and Your Identity 

  • Week 6: Jesus Christ

  • Week 7: Momentum

• Skills: Each week you will develop a new skill to help you overcome pornography and establish good habits. 

• Peer Mentor: Graduates of this program will participate as peer mentors to provide encouragement and advice. 

• Service: You will practice the principle of “give-to-get.” The Lord has promised that he that “loseth his life for my sake shall find it” (Matthew 10:39). You will serve, teach, and help others throughout this experience. 

Qualifications

The Perfect in Christ Experience is offered to cohorts of 12-15 people. Cohorts will be either male or female and target people who are at a level 2-3 on President Dallin H. Oaks’ four levels of pornography use scale.
