This proposal was a 4 week project that addressed the fact that Longwood University does not have a self-defense class for students. This proposal is written to persuade the Longwood University Police Department and the Pierson Hall Fitness Center to fund this Sexual Assault Defense Class to address the personal safety issues for students on the Longwoods campus and in Farmville. Addressing this issue and providing students with the resources to protect themselves will foster a safer and more confident campus.
This is a video where my group mates and I explain our collaborative proposal in detail for 7 minutes. This video addresses the fact that Longwood University does not have a self-defense class for students. According to the Longwoods Annual Security and Fire Safety Report from 2020-2022, there were eight rape cases, seven sexual assault cases, two domestic violence cases, and ten cases of dating violence. This proposal is written to persuade the Longwood University Police Department and the Pierson Hall Fitness Center to fund this Sexual Assault Defense Class to address the personal safety issues for students on the Longwoods campus and in Farmville.
This proposal was a 4 week project that addresses the issues book banning causes. This proposal is intended to persuade the Fauquier County Public Library to form a banned books club where, once a month, a new banned book will be read and talked about by the members of the community. While certain books might have difficult themes or offensive topics and language, the overall story should not be penalized for the majority by the minority. It is crucial for teenagers and young adults to educate themselves on the different matters going on around the world such as the different cultural, racial, sexual, and political views and to look past the censorship with an open mind.
The purpose of this proposal is to help educate Longwood students and the surrounding community on the differences between literature in books and how those relationships, perspectives, and focal points differ once transformed into a movie. The structure of this proposal will help highlight the importance of literature and how different mediums portray that. Both books and movies are two ways of storytelling that have advantages and disadvantages which is why I proposed a semesterly event where Longwood students and the surrounding community can read a book and then watch the movie adaptation and compare the differences.
