National Significance
The Peace Corps Plaza in the National Service Park is a tribute to Peace Corps Volunteers nationwide as it recognizes and celebrates the legacy of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and their commitment to national service.Â
As an integral part of a National Service Park, the Plaza is designed to honor the contributions of RPCVs but also to serve as a platform for educating and inspiring the public nationwide, with a particular emphasis on engaging the young.Â
The Peace Corps Plaza actively promotes a sense of inclusivity by extending an invitation to all RPCVs, regardless of where they served or currently reside. It highlights the widespread impact of the Peace Corps' ideals on American life and culture.Â
Through this approach, the Plaza transcends regional boundaries and is a testament to the universal spirit of volunteerism that is deeply ingrained in the nation's fabric.
The thermometer below represents the extent of donations made by the larger Peace Corps community: volunteers from all 50 States and Washington D.C. and the countries where they served as Peace Corps Volunteers.
