Technology in PE

This section is meant to showcase some of the technology I try to utilize with my classes. This may not reflect everything I use just yet! I will update this section as I continue to learn to effectively implement new technology into physical education.

GIFs

I recently learned how to create gifs using the app GIPHY. These are a catching gif and some locomotor gifs I created. I use these and others in both remote learning and in-person lessons as a visual aid for students. Creating my own GIFs was fun and easy. GIFs have been an effective visual aid for my students and help to make my remote lessons more personal.

YouTube Videos

Coach Donchev inspired me to create y first ever Who am I? Warm-Up using my own GIFs, google slides, and screencastify. I then edited with iMovie. This was a long process but worth the effort. My students were really engaged and enjoying it. This was another great way to add some personality to my lesson.

As I continue to teach in a hybrid model, I try to make videos as often as I can for my remote students to use as they work asynchronously. I have learned that combining these videos on slides with my voiceover from Vocaroo is the next best thing to teaching live.

This is a fun video meant to promote OPEN's first National Field Day that occurred while schools were still closed. Its purpose was to promote school spirit and get students and their families excited about participating in the events. The video created a lot of engagement amongst students and parents and really set the tone for a fun and successful National Field Day.

This video was part of a collaboration between the science teacher and me. We though it would be a great to come together as we taught students from home. It was a great way to connect PE with another subject!

3-5 Week 7 Virtual PE

These two slides represent two ways in which I use google slides or PowerPoints to help me teach lessons. The google slides on the left is a PE at home lesson and the one on the right is a PowerPoint I use in-person. The in-person presentations have helped me to stay on track with my lesson and make students visually aware of goals and expectations. The google slides for PE at home have been a great tool for me to teach students asynchronously while I am away from my computer with my in-person classes.
