At PDC, we are excited to offer dancers the opportunity to perform a solo and possibly a duo/trio (if dancers should fit together). This page outlines the expectations, commitments, and policies regarding solos.
In order to be considered for a solo, dancers MUST meet ALL summer requirements given. If you are unsure of the requirments please reach out!
*Choreography*
Solos will be choreographed with the understanding that dancers will compete with Performance Dance Centre for the 2025-2026 competition season. Solos CANNOT be used for another studio under any circumstances. This includes using the solo choreography, music, or costume design at any other dance facility.
Parents are not to request changes to choreography. If Shelby, Spencer, or any other instructor determines that a dancer is consistently executing a new skill with proper technique, it may be added at their discretion. Competitions do not award extra points for difficulty—however, they do deduct for mistakes, especially when tricks lack clarity and proper technique. Our focus is on clean execution, strong performance, and confident delivery.
Once choreography has begun, all solo fees are non-refundable, even if the dancer:
- Quits or is removed from the team.
- Chooses not to compete the solo.
- Cannot perform due to injury, illness, or any other reason.

Solo Entry Fee (per solo, per competition) - $140-$160
Duet/Trio Entry Fee (per person, per competition) - $75-$100
Solo/Duo/Trios are considered extra routines. THESE ROUTINES WILL NOT BE ENTERED INTO ANY COMPETITION IF THEY'RE NOT PAID FOR BY THE DUE DATE.
*Costuming*
ALL solo costuming should be discussed with your dancers choreographer BEFORE purchasing.
At PDC, group routines are a priority because they foster teamwork and growth without the added pressure of solo competition. Should a dancer fall behind in group routines, their solo/duo/trios will go on pause until the issue resolves. Competing in solos can sometimes discourage dancers due to the pressure of wanting to place in the top 10. We encourage dancers to focus on group routines and only add a solo/duo/trio if they’re seeking personal development and demonstrate strong teamwork skills.
