In addition to information concerning the fair, you will be able to find various resources that will help you teach the scientific method and bring enthusiasm to science.
Over the final week of May, five young scientists from the Peace Region displayed their science fair projects at the national Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF) in Ottawa, Ontario. Janessa Bourlon, Elianna Eagles, Hannah Klinck, Isabella Pozniak, and Paige Trofimenkoff - all from Valleyview - were among 385 students from 82 different regions spanning the entire country who gathered at Carleton University in the national capital for a week of science, exploration, and celebration.
The reigonal committee would like to extend a heartfelt 'thank you' to all of this year's CWSF Finalists. You were all wonderful ambassadors of the Peace Country and simply a pleasure to spend time with. You should all be extremely proud of your accomplishments! We are excited to see where you go next!
We would like to extend a special congratulations to Miss Isabella Pozniak, whose wonderful project "Do Seed Treatments Matter?" earned a Bronze Medal and a Challenge Award in the Agriculture, Fisheries & Food category. Congratulations Isabella! We look forward to what you bring to the regional fair next year!
The CWSF experience could not have happened with out the effort from two dedicated volunteers. Mrs. Kathryn Gauthier and Mr. Adam Rhodes served as adult chaperones - or "delegates" - for the week in Ottawa. Thank you so much for offering your time and experience to make this week such a success for our student finalists!
Finally, we would like to thank our sponsors, in particular Poz and Hooves Animal Care, for supporting our region's finalists in this year's fairs. Thank you very much!
We hope to see everyone again next year at the 2025 regional fair! Until then, have a wonderful summer!

Clear skies, warm sun, bare hills, and a slowly relenting ribbon of ice welcomed participants to Peace River for the 40th edition of the Peace Country Regional Science Fair on Friday, March 15, 2024. Dozens of students from across the Peace Region gathered at the Catholic Conference Centre on the banks of the Peace River to share and celebrate their love of science.
It was wonderful to welcome all the students, teachers, and volunteers to another Regional Science Fair. Please have a look at this year's PROGRAM, the PROJECT ZONE filled with this year's participants and their projects, and PHOTOS of the event.
The organizers would like to extend a heart-felt THANK YOU to the volunteer judges that shared their time and expertise with our region's budding young scientists - without you this event cannot happen. We would also like to acknowledge the generous support of our sponsors for making it possible to host this wonderful event. Mercer Peace River was this year's Platinum sponsor and has been supporting youth science in the Peace for many years. New this year is Pathways Alliance, serving as our Gold sponsor. And we would be remiss if we did not recognize the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division's generous donation of the venue. Last but certainly not least are the members of the organizing committee who have volunteered their time to organize and put on the event. Thank you to everyone who made this year's event possible!
Finally, the students! You are the reason for this event! Congratulations to all of you for completing a science fair project and presenting it at this year's fair! You should all be proud of the work that you have done, regardless of the results. We hope that everyone had a great day and we hope to see you all again next year.

Even with the extra day, February is nearly over, and that must mean that the Regional Science Fair is just around the corner!
Student registration can be found HERE and must be completed before TUESDAY, MARCH 12, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
We are so excited to welcome you to this year's fair at the Catholic Conference Centre on the banks of the Mighty Peace in Peace River, Alberta in the morning of March 15, 2024. Judging kicks off the day beginning at 10am, and a celebratory awards banquet wraps it up in the afternoon. Full details can be found on our SCHEDULE page.
Lunch and supper will be provided, as will a movie showing at River City Cinemas. One thing that will NOT be provided is snacks at the movie - if you want to enjoy some popcorn or other treats during the showing, please bring some spending money.
Last year we welcomed elementary aged students as participants for the first time. Given its success, we have invited them back to compete in a "Novice" category. Although students in the Novice category will be competing amongst each other for medals, they will NOT be ELIGIBLE to represent the Peace Country at the Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF) taking place in Ottawa at the end of May. Only students in grades 7-12 are eligible to attend CWSF.
Members of the organizing committee are eagerly awaiting March 15 to see what amazing projects you have all come up with this year!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kristen Blanchette (kblanchette@hpsd.ca) from the organizing committee.

Five weeks. Only five weeks until this year's PCRSF takes place!
March 15 is fast approaching and the organizing committee is hard at work preparing for this year's fair. As a result we are excited to share some exciting news with you!
FIRST, student registration is NOW OPEN. To register your project for this year's fair, please click HERE and complete the registration process using our Google Form. In order to allow the organizers enough time to adequately prepare for the event, the DEADLINE to submit your registration is MARCH 12.
SECOND, a preliminary SCHEDULE for the fair is now available HERE. It will be a one day, in-person event held at the Catholic Conference Centre in Peace River on Friday, March 15, 2024. For full details, please consult the Schedule page.
THIRD, this year's posters are NOW AVAILABLE! Check out the three poster designs, each featuring science from the Peace Region! What's more, they were all generated using artificial intelligence (AI), which explains some of the weirdness found in the images. Feel free to print them out and share them around.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to Kristen Blanchette (kblanchette@hpsd.ca) from the organizing committee.
Looking forward to seeing everyone very soon!

Beware the ides of March!
Friday, March 15, 2024 is the (tentative) date for the 2024 edition of the PCRSF. On that day in the middle of March some of the Peace Region's top young scientists will gather in Peace River for a full day of science and celebration.
To help with the organization of this year's event, we ask that teachers from the region who have students that intend to participate take a few minutes to complete their SCHOOL REGISTRATION.
We look forward to sharing more details of the event in the coming months, and they will all appear right here so please keep us bookmarked!
Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Kristen Blanchette (kblanchette@hpsd.ca) from the organizing committee.
