To practice color theory and color mixing, we will be painting disco balls!
-Disco balls are great at displaying color theory due to their reflection of light
-We will be using watercolor and white gel pen to create our own mini disco ball paintings using different color harmonies.
Step 1- Trace a roll of tape in pencil to make a circle
Step 2- Draw a small oval at the bottom of the circle
Step 3- Begin making larger rings surrounding the first
Step 4- Continue upward. Be sure that to keep the “arch shape”
Step 5- Flip your paper once. Then start in the center of the first circle. Draw arched lines repeated going out to one side
Step 6- Repeat on the other side, be sure to draw the same amount of lines.
Underpaintings are used to create a base below your final work. This will help prevent any white spots on your piece.
Identify the general sections of color on your disco ball and apply them loosely here.
Outline lines in colored pencil
Use your reference image to fill in individual boxes. Use white gel pen for details, then cut out into circle
