Paxon SAS Band FAQ
1. What are the dates and times for band camp?
Band Camp takes place during the summer months. 2026 Band Camp dates TBA
2. What do I need to bring to band camp?
-Instrument, mouthpiece, reeds, mallets, sticks, etc.
-1 gallon water jug (MUST FILL AT HOME)
-Bagged lunch (LUNCH WILL NOT BE PROVIDED and Students CAN NOT LEAVE CAMPUS)
-Athletic Shoes (No flip-flops, sandals, slides or Crocs)
-1.5 inch binder w/ sheet protectors
-Small towel/cooling towel
-Deodorant
-Sunscreen AND Hat
3. What are the band fees for this school year(Which includes Majorettes and Flags)? TBA by Band Parent Association
4. When are band fees due? TBA
5. My child is a Freshman, can she/he participate in marching band this year? Yes -If your child has had prior playing experience an instrument and will be playing that same instrument while marching, they can participate in marching band this year.
- If your child has no prior playing experience, he/she can participate in marching band this school year on auxiliary squads, Media/PR team.
6. This is my child’s first year playing in the Paxon Band, what class should they enroll in for this school year? -If your child has NO prior playing experience, they should be enrolled in Band 1 for this school year. -If your child has prior playing experience, they should be enrolled in Band 2.
7. My child needs to rent an instrument, can we rent from the school?
- Yes, the school has a limited supply of quality instruments available for student use. The Maintenance fee is $100 for the year. However, these instruments are reserved for participating students only. I you or your child will not be participating in performance bands, rentals from an outside source is recommended. You can find the Instrument Maintenance Contract on the band website. - You can also rent instruments from any music rental agency. If you are interested in purchasing an instrument, Mr Buggs can point you in the direction of gently used instruments of great quality.
8. My child is a percussionist, what equipment will they need?
- Your student will need a drum pad for practicing at home, sticks, and mallets.
9. My child wants to be on Color Guard(flag squad), what will they need to purchase? - Your student will need to purchase boots, gloves, and a sports bra. In addition, they will also need a instrument for class.
Majorette candidates must participate in all bands 1 full year prior to tryout.
All auxiliary candidates must attend summer band camp.
10. Are there any additional costs for my child to participate in marching band? -Yes, in addition to their band fees, they will also need to purchase to following items
● Band T-shirt,
● warm-up
● Marching band Shoes and Spats (Shoes purchased direct from vendor)
● Gloves
11. Who do I make checks payable to? Most payments will be made on School Cash Online.
