2a: Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport
Classroom Culture
-Signs are posted around the room demanding respect! Students know the rules of the classroom are to act like a family. "We clean the classroom just like we clean our rooms, and we treat others with respect and the way we would want to be treated just like at home." These expectations were also laid out in the Classroom Constitution created by the students and also in the class syllabus that had to be signed and returned as well.

Class Syllabus
-Students were given a class syllabus and welcome sheet in the beginning of the year laying out all classroom expectations. Students know to raise their hand, not to get out their seats, not to back talk an adult, always to do homework, etc. If students don't follow the rules they know the "Post-it Strip Disipline System" that is in place. Students know expectations and are reminded and checked in often. At the middle of the year, the class constitution of rules had to be updated requiring the class to wrtie and think about what rules they liked/would rather see removed.
