I did a 6 month Co-Op at Apeiron Labs, an underwater robotics startup. In addition too my two primary projects that each have their own page, I worked on vehicle design, field operations, circuit board design, vision processing and sensor integration.
I added clocking features to multiple components on Aperion Labs robot, which were included in their latest production run of vehicles. These features allowed for more consistent and easy assembly. I worked with the team to document the part changes.
During my co-op I participated in offshore, dockside and tank testing. I wrote daily reports, launched and recovered vehicles, debugged issues, and served as operator for my surface vehicle project. On multiple deployments I was the only onsite mechanical engineer.
When the need arose for sensor to be moved external to a system, I designed, and assembled a custom circuit board that is now integrated in their robot's design. This project was time sensitive, and had a turn around time of 1 day from the start to the design being completed, quoted, and sent out for fabrication.
I conducted initial validation tests for an acoustic system. I helped develop a integration plan, and worked with other engineers to develop firmware, design a pressure housing, and better understand the system properties.
