Meals & Nutrition Policy
The program provides two snacks and one lunch each day, in accordance with the general principles of Canada’s Food Guide. Children are expected to eat breakfast at home before arriving. Water is offered throughout the day.
The program follows a pre-planned four-week rotating menu. The menu is established in advance and is not modified on an individual basis. Menus may occasionally vary due to seasonal availability, food supply, product recalls, or other circumstances.
Allergies & Dietary Restrictions
As a small home-based childcare program, the Provider has limited ability to accommodate food allergies or specialized diets. Parents/guardians must disclose all known food allergies and dietary restrictions before enrollment.
Peanuts and tree nuts are permitted in the home. Foods served or prepared in the program may also contain common allergens, including milk, eggs, wheat, soy, sesame, fish, shellfish, mustard, and sulphites. Gluten-containing grains, including wheat, barley, rye, and oats, may also be used.
Because meals are prepared in a shared household kitchen, the Provider cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or completely prevent cross-contamination.
The four-week rotating menu is not customized for individual children. The Provider does not prepare separate meals, substitute ingredients, remove ingredients from prepared meals, or modify the planned menu to accommodate individual allergies, dietary restrictions, religious requirements, cultural practices, ethical food choices, or personal food preferences.
If a child's dietary needs cannot be met by the daycare's pre-planned menu, parents/guardians will be responsible for providing all snacks and lunch for their child each day.
Religious, Cultural, and Family Food Practices
The Provider respects that families may have religious, cultural, ethical, or personal beliefs that influence the foods their child may or may not eat. Parents/guardians are responsible for communicating all such food restrictions or requirements before enrollment.
Due to the use of a pre-planned four-week rotating menu, the Provider is unable to provide substitutions, separate meals, or individual menu accommodations based on religious, cultural, ethical, or personal food requirements.
If the daycare menu does not meet a family's religious, cultural, ethical, or other food requirements, parents/guardians will be responsible for providing all snacks and lunch for their child each day.
This responsibility applies throughout the child's enrollment unless the family's food requirements can be met by the regularly scheduled menu without modification.
Food brought from home must be ready to serve, clearly labelled with the child's name, and meet general healthy nutrition standards. The Provider is not responsible for preparing, cooking, modifying, or substituting food brought from home.
Special Events
During birthdays, holidays, or other special events, treats or shared foods may be offered. Parents/guardians are responsible for providing an appropriate alternative for their child when the food offered does not meet the child's allergy, dietary, religious, cultural, ethical, or personal requirements. The Provider will not provide substitutions.
Tuition fees remain unchanged whether meals and snacks are provided by the daycare or supplied entirely by the family.
Families will be informed of relevant food safety procedures and policies before enrollment and whenever a new allergy or dietary concern arises.
