Welcome to Year 3
Moving from Year 2 to Year 3 is an exciting transition into KS2. The children will be immersed into our Year 3, becoming geographers, learning all about maps, compasses, rocks and how volcanoes are formed. They will become Historians when they explore the Stone Age, Bonze Age, Iron Age and the Roman Empire . Throughout the year, we will become scientists when we investigate Animal Nutrition and The Skeletal System, Forces and Magnets, Plant Nutrition and Reproduction and Light and Shadows.
As well as the great academic opportunities, Year 3 is all about encouraging the children to become increasingly independent and confident. These skills will be applied with an overnight camping experience towards the end of the academic year - what an exciting opportunity to look forward to!
The Year 3 team look forward to welcoming your child and working with you to ensure your child has a happy and successful year. If there are ever any questions that you need to discuss with your child’s class teacher, please do not hesitate to contact us via Seesaw.

Year 3 Curriculum Overview
Each term the Year 3 teachers will produce an overview explaining what will be being covered in all aspects of our Year 3 curriculum. They will also create a family support video which we hope supports our families with strategies or ways to support with your child's learning at home.
Click the images below to find out some useful information about some of our topics that we will cover throughout the academic year - these knowledge organisers are for our units on Science, Geography and History. For further information on wider subjects, please see our termly overviews.
