Welcome to Year 1
In Year 1 there are lots of exciting new challenges as the children become more independent and take greater ownership of their learning. They are encouraged to tackle new concepts with enthusiasm and determination and become more confident in their own abilities.
The children will continue to develop their writing and maths skills through a range of lessons that will be linked to our exciting curriculum. To extend learning beyond the classroom, we have some exciting trips and visitors planned including a visit to the Black Country Museum and the Think Tank in Birmingham.
We look forward to inviting you to join us to celebrate your child's learning throughout the school year and working with you to ensure your child has a happy and successful year
If there are ever any questions that you need to discuss with your child’s class teacher, please do not hesitate to contact us via our online platform (Seesaw).

Year 1 Curriculum Overview
Each term the Year 1 teachers will produce an overview explaining what will be being covered in all aspects of our Year 1 curriculum. They will also create a family support video which we hope supports our families with strategies or ways to support with your child's learning at home.
Click the images below to find out some useful information about some of our topics that we will cover throughout the academic year - these knowledge organisers are for our units on Science, Geography and History. For further information on wider subjects, please see our termly overviews.
