Applications are now open!
For the year's powerpoint overview as well as list of additional resources. USE THIS! (There are powerpoints from previous years, specific practice for different parts, etc.)
This is also for an overview of the event. Studying only from the wiki page is insufficient preparation for competition.
Resources you must complete/study from.
Solar Power - Rules & Regulations
Sample Formulas - Make sure to Add More!
Use Solar Power Information under "Resources and Links"
(If these links don't work, ask officers for pdf copies from drive.)
Sample Information & Topics - (I would focus more on panels)
From past participants
Princeton (Invitational) use the same light that we have in the physics room - Rusty metal lamp with handle.
Before the event, make sure to test device and make graphs to help you predict the temperature at the trial event - also its free points too!
Remember how to use the formula - Especially Specific Heat/Heat Transfer.
A majority of the exam is about solar panels specifically.
Make sure to draw a diagram and bring it to the event.
One person can focus on the multiple choice (mostly basic information on solar panel/energy) and one person on the free-response (mostly heat calculations).
Make sure to bring practice exams/questions for outline during exam.
