Applications are now open!
For the year's powerpoint overview as well as list of additional resources. USE THIS! (There are powerpoints from previous years, specific practice for different parts, etc.)
This is also for an overview of the event. Studying only from the wiki page is insufficient preparation for competition.
Must use/study from these.
From past participants
Try to bring a laptop from home and use it as notes for the competition
Our school chromebook will not connect to the event holder’s WiFi
Most of the teams will have their notes on laptops
If you bring one, during the competition, you should ask the staff what you have to do in order to prevent cheating (Sorry, we don’t know what counts as cheating yet!)
Take pictures of all of the galaxy clusters in this link: http://api-static.ctlglobalsolutions.com/science/Science_Olympiad_Div_C_2020_Rules_Manual_Web.pdf (scroll down to astronomy and they are on #3)
Go in depth in notes!!
They will quiz you on very detailed aspects of different subtopics
The light spectrum, galactic structures, Kepler’s Laws, etc.
Do not waste any time
Don’t write too much for the open ended sections
Have an organized binder so you can access your material easily
There are two of you! Use that to your advantage and work cooperatively
Don’t sit next to other teams
