Ben’s New Friend
Once upon a time, there was an old man named Ben. He liked to walk round the village every morning. One day, he saw a small house with an open door. He decided to go inside.
In the house, Ben found some toys on the floor. He picked one up and thought, “May I take this?” But then he remembered, "I should ask before I take things." So, he put the toy back.
Just then, a little girl came over and smiled. She said, “You can have it!” Ben smiled and said, "Thank you!"
The girl pointed to a box of cookies and said, “Would you like some cookies too?” Ben took a cookie and shared it with them.
After eating, Ben decided to go back home. But before he left, the girl said, "Stop by anytime you want to play!"
Ben smiled and waved goodbye. Then, he continued his walk around the village, happy to have met a new friend.
He thought, "I think I will come back tomorrow!"
From that day on, Ben and the little girl became friends and decided to live happily in the village.
The next step is Presenting the students with Basic sight words by giving them definitions and using sight words in the story then asking the students to make a sentence if they can answer give them points and awards.
The next step is to master the students' basic sight words by showing them flashcards and making them repeat. After that review them again by opening a video and making them speak along with the words that they see in the video.
The final step is to practice dividing the class into 3 teams and play a game called Sight Word Scavenger Hunt.
First, make each group read the sentences written in the paper. After that, make the students look at the underlined word because that is the sight word. Then, make them look for the sight words that match what they have read in the sentence.
