Panicea is derived from the term "Panacea" which is the name of a Greek goddess worshipped for her ability to produce solutions or remedies for all difficulties or diseases. As we teach the risk and protective factors of panic attacks, we keep this in mind. We are showcasing a remedy to risk factors by highlighting protective factors.
Many high school students deal with stress and anxiety, which can lead to panic attacks. It is important to identify and know what is causing them and their protective factors. Our mission is to educate high school students on the protective and risk factors of panic attacks while also managing to provide comfort to students.
Risk factors are characteristics associated with social, cultural, biological, and other aspects of life that can result in negative outcomes. There are a variety of risk factors that may act as triggers for panic attacks, however, we studied the ones most indicated by the students at our school.
Protective factors are activities associated with a lower chance of negative outcomes. These activities may counter the risk factor's impact. We know that panic attacks cannot be prevented, however, there are numerous techniques that can be used to decrease the frequency of the attacks and to serve as a coping mechanism.
