Promoting justice and participation in the wider community is part of our Unitarian Universalist legacy and identity. We stay engaged with the realities of our communities (locally and globally) and look for ways to improve those realities. Prior to professional ministry I worked for six years at an organization in San Mateo County, California that provides shelter and case management services for people experiencing homelessness. Strengthening communities has always been a central part of my work.
This section is organized into three areas of justice and community-building work:
Whether leading freedom songs for hundreds of people, marching arm-in-arm with community members, shouting on the courthouse square for equality, leading prayer during vigils, writing letters to the editor, hosting speakers and educations events for the community to learn about a social issue, there are so many fleeting moments that we hope lead to some measure of lasting change. I have had countless opportunities to add my voice and my energy to causes and I am honored for each and every invitation.
