Advancement Recognition and Recording - (9:41)

Advancement is used to achieve Scouting’s aims—character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Advancement gets recorded and recognized correctly to ensure each boy maximizes his personal growth. This module focuses on the roles and approval process related to Cub Scout advancement.

Annual Program Planning - (14:35)

Annual Program Planning focuses on identifying the purpose and resources available for the Annual Program Planning Conference, specifically the roles of the attendees for the conference and the preparation done by the Committee Chair, the Cubmaster and den leaders. Lastly, this module outlines the steps of the conference.

Building the Pack Budget - (5:40)

A pack budget plan implements all of the elements of a complete annual Cub Scouting program for youth, committing as a unit to incorporate these elements, and then providing adequate funding for them. This module looks at the roles different leaders play and the resources they have to help them through this process.

Core Resources for Leaders - (6:30)

Cub Scouting Ideals - (13:35)

As a new leader, it may seem to you that there are a lot of different things to learn. In this lesson we will cover many which are a vital to teaching the core values of Scouting. The Scouting program is designed to help instill character and leadership qualities in young people that will begin to prepare them to make moral and ethical decisions over their lifetimes.

Cub Scouting Purposes - (6:08)

Cub Scouting is family-oriented and builds independence, as well as skills the boys will use for their entire lives. This module focuses on the ten purposes the Cub Scout program fulfills as Cub Scouts to become Boy Scouts.

Den Chief Roles and Responsibilities - (3:07)

A den chief, is a special kind of leader. While you are an active member of your own unit you also fill an important role in the Cub Scout den. This module looks specifically at what a Den Chief should and should not do.

In this module, we will focus on strategies, tools, and actions that you and your Cub Scouts can take that will help you keep the den running smoothly and make sure everyone has the best experience possible.

Effective Leadership - (7:21)

Throughout the year, the den and their families will look to you for leadership, ideas, and encouragement, as they work on the requirements for their Rank Badges. This module focuses on the qualifications and skills necessary to meet the expectations parents have for an effective leader.

How Dens and Packs Work - (11:28)

When families join Scouting, they become members of a Scout unit or den. The Cub Scout den is a part of a pack. Each pack is identified by their pack number. Each pack is chartered to a local organization. This organization receives a charter from the BSA to use the Scouting program as part of its service to young people. This module focuses on the structure of Cub Scouting.

Leader Uniform - (3:39)

This module is designed to help you identify the parts of the Cub Scout leader uniform as well as how to wear and inspect it.

Leading Den Meetings - (13:08)

Planning the den meeting is an essential part of a den leader’s job. As a den leader you have access to several resources that will help you plan and execute the best meeting possible. In this module we will discuss how you can lead a den meeting where boys experience the purpose and methods of Scouting, make friends, prepare to be a Boy Scout and have fun.

Leading Pack Meetings - (13:15)

An essential part of a Cubmaster’s job is planning the pack meeting. Cubmasters should understand the parts of a pack meeting and any available resources. There are also best practices, tips and hints to make the process easier. This module focuses on what you need to know to lead a pack meeting.

Planning provides direction for the program, a sense of satisfaction for those participating, and a feeling of accomplishment in seeing boys grow in knowledge, skills, and expanded interests. Planning also makes use of available time and resources. This module focuses on the purpose of monthly planning and preparation that goes into it.

Nine Elements of Effective Planning - (1:57)

Planning provides direction for the Cub Scouting program by offering a sense of satisfaction for those participating and a feeling of accomplishment in seeing boys grow in knowledge, skills, and expanded interests. This module focuses on key skills to use when planning weekly den meetings and monthly pack meetings, as well as pack campouts, hikes, and other activities.

Other Awards Cub Scouts Can Earn - (4:41)

This module identifies the differences between advancement and recognition and describes some of the awards available in Cub Scouting.

Pack Funding - (11:17)

In this module we are going to look at the 4 main sources packs look to for that funding. We’ll also look at the role funding plays in teaching responsibility within the program. Some of that is reinforced through dues collection.

Scouting Organizational Structure - (7:02)

This module identifies the different levels of the Scouting organization and how they fit together. We’ll look at how the Cub Scout, den, and pack work together and are supported by the chartered organization, district, local council, and the National Service Center.

Selecting Leaders - (8:06)

Leaders are what makes Scouting work. They provide good role models in a group setting where they teach Scouting values and reinforce positive qualities of character. In this module we will look at why it is important to select the best leaders possible.

Supplemental Leader Resources - (9:10)

In this session, we will look at the resources that will be valuable to you once you become more experienced and are able to identify where you need additional help, Sometimes it’s hard to ask questions when you don’t know what you don’t know. With a little hands on experience, you’ll be able to identify what you need to know to know and there are additional resources available to you.

The Cubmaster - (11:36)

The Cubmaster plays a big role in planning and leading of the den and pack. With support from others, they make sure a great program is always presented. This module focuses on the skills and qualifications of the Cubmaster and the role they play within the program.

The Methods of Cub Scouting - (4:13)

Cub Scouting features time-tested methods to keep the boys active and involved. Here we will focus on what those methods are and why they are important.

The Pack Committee - (16:59)

Every pack is under the supervision of a pack committee which consists of at least three members (chair, secretary, and treasurer), although most committees are larger. This module focuses on the administrative and support tasks they handle, allowing the Cubmaster, den leaders, and their assistants to focus on working directly with the Cub Scouts.

This module is designed to help you identify the different activities that make up and enrich the Cub Scouting program. You will learn the purpose of year-round activities and to identify den, pack, district and council, outdoor, daylong, and overnight activities.

Youth Leadership Positions - (4:57)

A goal of Scouting is to develop leaders. One way a boy can improve his leadership skills is to work with Cub Scout leaders to help with den activities. This module identifies the ways older youth are involved in Cub Scouting.
