Research Methodology

A total of 2 stays of doctoral / post-doctoral personnel (1 Romanian and 1 French) of 4 weeks each are scheduled over 2 years, and 5 fixed positions personnel stays of a week.

Stays of doctoral students:

-The first stay of doctoral candidates is scheduled in 2017. In Romania, experiments will study the kinetics and ozonolysis products for a variety of unsaturated oxygenated VOCs in the atmospheric simulation chamber.

The second stay is planned in 2018. In France the experiments will focus on the study of the formation yields of Criegee intermediates, according to the original method developed in the laboratory (alcohol-derivate). In Romania, the PhD student will investigate the formation of secondary organic aerosols yields during the ozonolysis of some oxygenated unsaturated VOCs. Into the case of insignificant aerosol yields, the series of compounds studied in 2017 could be extended to other compounds, to improve the knowledge of structure-activity relationships. In France, the student will work to determine the nucleation thresholds into the flow reactor for the same series of VOCs.

Stays of permanent personnel

These much shorter stays did not aim to make exhaustive studies (such as the stays of doctoral candidates), but rather to support the ongoing studies by their expertise and involvement in this project. Moreover, these weekly stays can be leveraged to implementation and writing of communications and publications. Finally, it is envisaged the participation of researchers in theses juries in the partner country.
