I
I 3D printed a lot of models including a lot of ramps to find out the perfect way to sort a coin. Here are some of my model
There was 5 major designing problems in my machine the first challange was creating a perfedct ramp for the coins to slide on. I first treid to create square holes for the coins to slide down but those holes did nto want to work so I used circular holes and those worked better in the end I firgured out if I put tiny ramps going into each hole the coins slide in better.
The next design I created once I found the perfect slide I created a hopper and mounted them together but the coins where moving to fast so I had to add the ramps I was talking about in the last design.
The next design focused on adding ramps and also slowing the coins down so the angle of the ramps was tilted a bit. The problem was that the coins kept riding on top of eachother. I also added a collector at the bottem and a place at the top to add the vibrater
Since the last one was still to fast and not 100 percent acurate I had to again lower the angle of the ramps and than add a stopper at the top so that the coins would stop jumping when falling down.
As you guessed it there was another problem now the angle was so low that the coins did not move and with the vibrater they would hitch rides on top of eachother still. So I had to make a bottem stopper. But even on that it went to fast so I took some palstic and put it slightly of the tracks to slwo down the coins with friction. I also printed some bottme ramps that lead into an easer sorting mechinsim.
Here is the final result of the project the total time was 3.6 seconds but I did drop a coin so I had to put it back in so the time could have been faster if I was not so clumsy.
