While Daniel and I were on our way home from California we were talking about Emmett's next appointment at the Cardiology Clinic at the Alberta Children's Hospital. Daniel was explaining to me that he was sad to be going back to work and wouldn't be able to take Emmett to his Cardiologist appointments anymore. He said the Cardiology visits were his favorite because when you go to the clinic it feels comfortable, like home. All the nurses and staff know Emmett and you know them. They have followed his journey since he was born. They care about him and cheer him on. They celebrate his successes with us and comfort us in our fears with him. For this reason, I have decided to name our key wrislet collection after our Cardiology Clinic family.

Roxane

Dietician

Roxane helps Emmett grow and make sure he is always getting what he needs for nutrients. She cheers him on as he continues on "his own curve." Roxane is one of the few people who never fails to tell me that I am doing a good job. Something medical moms really need to hear because they don't feel it most days.

Kimberley

Nurse

Kimberley is the nurse that often checks all Emmett's vitals before seeing his Cardiologist. She is great at interacting with Emmett and finding little toys for him to keep him occupied while we wait. She always makes sure that I get answers to my questions. It is nice to always have her consistency in the clinic.

Andrea

Echo Technician

Andrea is one of two techs that usually do Emmett's Echos. It is usually about an hour long and he gets bored easily. I love how Andrea always tries to keep him occupied with conversation, songs and noises. She always lets him "help" and play with her lanyard.

Norma

Nurse

I would call Norma the "mom" of the Cardiology Clinic. I love when she comes out and welcomes Emmett back. She makes sure that I have all the support, resources and connections I need and reassures me when I am nervous about Emmett's upcoming procedures. She always cheers Emmett on and tells him he will do great.
