Clipping the Crab

When trying to clip into a staircase with a Gohma, you want to try your clip every other fireball - the reason for this is that one fireball is going to shoot at your last position and the next is going to track the direction you are trying to move. So if you try to clip on the track ball, you’re likely to get knocked out of your clip before it completes. Ideally, you want to be on the opposite side of the diamond as Gohma, and start your clip right after the tracking fireball so that the next one shoots where you were, and not at the block you are clipping into

When trying to block clip, make sure you move far enough away (16 pixels) from the block you are attempting to bypass if you fail the clip, or the game will not let you pass - when ladder clipping, if you fail, you need to move off the ladder to reset it in order to attempt the clip again

When trying to navigate difficult screens with choke points, you can use the candle flame to damage boost through them by shooting it behind you and running into the flame. This will knock you back the direction you were wanting to go, and give you some invincibility frames to move through the tough enemies
