Amelia is a sophomore in high school who founded Operation Smile during her freshman year after reflecting on her own mental health journey post hospitalization. Through her experiences, she discovered how mental wellness impacts physical recovery and became passionate about sharing that message with others. With Operation Smile, Amelia hopes to bring moments of joy, comfort, and hope to patients during their hospital stays. In her free time, she loves to ski, play tennis, and figure skate. Above all, Amelia is driven by the belief that even the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting difference in someone’s healing journey.
Sophia is a high school sophomore who helped create Operation Smile because she cares deeply about uplifting others and bringing joy and positivity to those who need it most. Outside of Operation Smile, she is passionate about theatre, music, art, literature, films, and connecting with others. Being able to help others through Operation Smile is especially important to her because she cares deeply about leaving a positive impact on people’s lives and believes that every smile she can help create is worth it.
Jiya is a junior in high school who is passionate about giving back to her community and making a positive impact wherever she can. She aspires to become a health care provider in the future so she can continue helping others in meaningful ways. Jiya enjoys staying active through basketball, skiing, and softball, and in her free time, she loves reading, baking, and traveling. Being part of Operation Smile is especially meaningful to her because she truly believes that small acts of kindness, like creating care packages, can make a big difference in someone’s day. She is excited to be part of this mission and to help bring comfort and joy to patients during their time in the hospital.
