Information of Alta

Alta, also named Áltá or Álaheadju in northern sámi, and Alattio in kven, is located in the west of Norway's northernmost county, Finnmark.

With its population of approximately 20.000 inhabitants, it is the biggest city in Finnmark.

A person from Alta is called an "Altaværing".

Alta is known for its great salmon river, and even the king of Norway visits here annually to go fishing.
