Global Perspective

I am currently a citizen of Nigeria but have lived as an immigrant in the United States for the last 8 years. I studied as an international student to the University of Idaho from August 2018 until August 2021, when I received my green card which now puts me in the place of a permanent resident.

My family's move to the states was originally out of concern from my father for my family’s safety due to the terrorism that ravaged our homeland. While he sent us to the states and (initially) remained in Nigeria to support us, my mom enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Idaho to begin our lives here. I believe my complex background gives me a global perspective which I have enjoyed sharing on with the colleagues and friends that I have made in the United States. The best ways I have found to do that over the last few years has been through clubs on campus like the African Students Association (ASA) and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). From little experiences like boarding school life in middle school to larger ordeals like fleeing terrorism, I believe I have a unique perspective on life that I am continually excited to share with the world around me.
