A little about myself

Hello my name is Minh-Tri Nguyen, a Technical Artist at Playtika. I grew up in Montreal and spent my secondary school years in California and Toronto. I was first introduced to the software 3D Studio Max in high school, which generated my interest in game development.

While still in College, I worked on the game CO-OP: Decrypted as a Gameplay Scripter for Pixelz Games. In 2014, I received the Attestation of College Studies certificate for the Video Game Program at Inter-Dec College. My school project earned me an internship at Funcom Montreal, and soon after I became a Jr Game Designer for the company.

At the beginning of 2015, Funcom Montreal became Nvizzio Creations Inc. I worked on RollerCoaster Tycoon World as a Game Designer. For two years I had the opportunity to learn from my Senior Designers about the following areas: System Design, Mission Design, Mission Balancing, and UI/UX. I was in charge of setting up the localization and asset integration, which include all scenery assets, rides, and pre-made coasters.

After the release of RollerCoaster Tycoon World I worked on ROKH, a Sandbox Survival Game set on Mars, also by Nvizzio Creations. On this project, I worked closely with the UI Artist for the creation of the UI in the game. I created crafting recipes and balanced the formulas using our internal tool.

In my spare time, I follow news releases for the game engine Unity3D in order to remain up to date with new features.. Lately I have become more active on Twitter since I finished nightschool, I try to post atleast once a week, trying to implement as many new things I learned as possible. I also enjoy creating prototypes using the visual scripting tool Playmaker and Bolt, and reading translated novels.

My main hobby is Kendo, which I have been practicing for three years. I have participated in multiple tournaments, and managed to win first place for the Mudansha division in Quebec 2017 and second place for Team Division in Granby 2018. I am currently a Nidan in Kendo.

I was taking the Continuing Education program for Jewelry Crafting at École de Joaillerie de Montréal but I ended up stopping it for now because I enrolled in the Independent Video Game Design program at Dawson College.

I recently finished my studies of Independent Video Game Design program at Dawson College in May 2020. My goal for the program was to pick up C# since I was hitting a plateau with visual scripting and also improve my Design skill, I am also interested in learning more about 3D Modeling & Animation, mostly to understand the implementation process to help me as a Technical Designer/Artist.
