Public speaking used to terrify me during my school and collage days. I would feel nervous, anxious, and sweaty whenever I had to speak in front of a group of people. I avoided any situation that required me to present my ideas or opinions. But then I realized that public speaking is a valuable skill that can help me in many aspects of life.
I decided to challenge myself and join Student in Free Enterprise (SIFE) at my university, where I could practice and improve my speaking skills in a supportive and friendly environment. In SIFE learned how to prepare, structure, and deliver effective speeches, as well I host multiple events for others who can participate and collaborate and share their experience. SIFE Mentors gave me constructive feedback and encouragement to improve on my speaking skills. Gradually, I became more confident and comfortable in public speaking. I discovered that it can be fun and rewarding to share my thoughts and stories with others. Public speaking is no longer a source of fear for me, but a source of joy and growth.
As a trainer and coach, I traveled to different locations such as Manila, Philippines; Bangalore, India; and Dallas, United States for various engagements. Working in cross-functional teams at J.P. Morgan across different jurisdictions for various programs and products, public speaking was my handiest skill.
