To me, thinking flexibly means being able to see things in a new or different way. It means being open to change, to new ideas, and to different perspectives. It means being able to adapt to different situations and challenges, and not getting stuck in one way of thinking or doing things.
Thinking flexibly is good for many things which helps us find new ways to fix problems, by using new ideas or mixing old ideas together. For example, if we want to make a cake but we don't have eggs, we can think flexibly and use bananas instead.
Thinking flexibly helps us learn new things, by linking different things we know and remember. For example, if we want to learn a new language, we can think flexibly and use words we already know from other languages.
Thinking flexibly helps us deal with things that are hard or scary, by changing what we think and feel. For example, if we are nervous about a test, we can think flexibly and tell ourselves that we are prepared and excited.
Thinking flexibly helps us be friends with others, by seeing things from their side and being nice to them. For example, if we have a friend who likes different music than us, we can think flexibly and listen to their music and share our music with them.
I think we all can think flexibly, but we need to do it more and make it better. We can do this by trying new things, by asking questions, by testing things out, and by making mistakes. We can also do this by learning from different people, places, and things. And we can do this by being curious, having fun, and using our imagination.
