This is my attempt to explain to you the basics. Sometimes we need to start from basics and undo some of our learning.Â
"Food and germs are two things that affect my body every day. Food is what I eat to get energy and stay healthy. Germs are tiny things that can make me sick. I will tell you how food and germs are related and how they have changed my life.
The first thing I learned about food and germs was that they can help or hurt each other. Some foods can make my body stronger and help me fight germs. These foods have vitamins and minerals that are good for me. Some examples are fruits, vegetables, fish, eggs, and nuts. Other foods can make my body weaker and let germs win. These foods have too much sugar, salt, or fat that are bad for me. Some examples are candy, chips, soda, and fast food.
I found out how important food is for germs when I had low vitamin D in my blood, as most of the time I used to work in indoor office space. Vitamin D is a vitamin that helps my body stop germs from making me sick. I was feeling tired, and weak, and got colds and flu a lot. My doctor told me to take vitamin D pills and eat more foods with vitamin D in them. After doing that, I felt more energetic, and happy, and did not get sick as often.
Another thing that taught me about food and germs was when I went to the Philippines a few years ago. The Philippines is a different country with different people and food. I liked trying new food, but I also had some stomach problems and threw up. I learned that my stomach has many good germs that help me digest food and make things that help my body. To make my stomach happy and healthy, I ate more foods that have good germs or feed good germs in them. Some examples are yogurt, banana, garlic, and onion.
These things have shown me that food and germs are connected and important for my health. By eating good food that gives me vitamins and minerals for my body, I can keep germs away or make them go away faster. By not eating bad food that has too much sugar, salt, or fat for my body, I can avoid getting hurt by germs and other problems. By taking care of my stomach and its good germs, I can also make my body stronger and happier.
