As an Agile coach, I want to help you embrace and improve your coaching context to build upon your Agile Transformation Journey. To do that, we need to establish a strong and effective relationship based on trust and collaboration. That’s why I suggest we create an Agile coaching alliance, which is a way to set expectations and goals for our coaching engagement.
An Agile coaching alliance typically covers the following aspects:
Purpose: Where we define why you want to work with me and what you hope to achieve. What are the problems or opportunities that you want to address with Agile? What are your vision and mission for your Agile journey?
Commitment: Where we agree on how much time and effort we are both willing to invest in the coaching process. How often and how long do we meet? How do we communicate and provide feedback? How do we handle conflicts or disagreements?
Motivation: Where we explore what drives you to pursue Agile transformation and improvement. What are the benefits and value that you expect from Agile? What are the challenges and risks that you may face? How do you cope with change and uncertainty?
Expectation: Where we set the outcomes and deliverables that we both aim to work towards. What are the specific goals and objectives that you want to achieve with Agile? What are the roles and responsibilities that we both have in the coaching engagement? How do we measure progress and success?
Direction: This is where we determine the best way to approach and execute our coaching engagement. What are the methods and models that we follow? What are the steps and stages that we go through? How do we adapt and adjust to changing situations and needs?
By creating an Agile coaching alliance, we can have a clear and shared vision for our coaching journey, as well as adopt a relevant framework for measuring progress and success. We can also foster a collaborative and respectful partnership based on mutual trust and accountability.
Please check my Agile coaching canvas, which will help you further to set a clear purpose and plan for our coaching alliance. It is a simple and visual tool that summarizes the key aspects of our coaching relationship in one page.
You may use it as a reference and a reminder throughout our coaching engagement.
