Dr. Ollie L. Jefferson, Visiting Assistant Professor
The University of Maryland at College Park
Ollie L. Jefferson, Ph.D., participated in the University of Maryland at College Park Do Good Institute, which is a part of the learning community of select professors to incorporate social impact, civic discourse, and democratic pedagogy into the students’ lessons. Her communication students were encouraged to recognize, understand, and act upon their responsibility to work with others, address issues in the public sphere, and advance the common good. The Program Manager of the Do Good Institute visits classrooms each semester and sent Dr. Jefferson the following comment after observing her class:
"I would love to hear about how you prepare your students because in the two years I've observed 20+ different COMM sections/group presentations, those were probably the best I've seen.
Wow! Thorough, engaging, well-informed, well-spoken."
