Coronaviruses

Coronaviruses are a common category of viruses that have crown like spikes on their surfaces. 'Corona' is Latin for crown and therefore, Corona viruses got their name because of the way they look. Some common corona viruses include the common cold, pneumonia and bronchitis. Some are mild (like the common cold) and some can be very serious (like pneumonia and MERS). In these other sites, we will introduce you to some common, uncommon, deadly, mild and extinct coronaviruses.

Coronaviruses access to your cells by using the spikes on their surfaces as a key. Once they get in, they use the cell to reproduce, just like any other virus (click HERE for the rest of the process). Your body will use all the usual defence systems to try and stop the virus from harming your body.
