OLFANA — COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

1. PURPOSE AND WHO MUST FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES

Olfana is a fragrance community built on honest experiences, useful discovery and respectful disagreement.

These Guidelines apply to every member, Brand Page representative and other person using Olfana.

They apply to:

• Profiles
• Reviews and ratings
• Posts and captions
• Comments and replies
• Lists
• Layering combinations
• Collection and wear activity
• Uploaded images
• Brand Pages
• Catalogue submissions
• Contact links
• Other material submitted through Olfana

These Guidelines supplement the Terms of Use.

Context matters, but claiming not to have read the Guidelines does not excuse conduct that harms other people.

Olfana accounts are intended for people aged 16 or older, subject to any higher age or additional consent required by local law.

2. PARTICIPATE RESPECTFULLY

Discuss fragrances, traditions and experiences without attacking people.

Disagreement, humour and strong opinions are welcome when they remain honest and respectful.

Fragrance criticism and negative reviews are permitted. Saying that a fragrance performed poorly for you is not an attack on its creator or on people who enjoy it.

Oud, bakhoor, mukhallat, attars and other traditions carry cultural and religious meaning for many members.

Discuss cultures, including cultures that are not your own, with care and without stereotypes, insults or contempt.

3. USE AUTHENTIC IDENTITIES

Do not impersonate:

• Another member
• A perfumer
• A brand or retailer
• A public figure
• An Olfana representative
• Any other person or organisation

Do not use a misleading username, profile, logo or Brand Page to imply authority, verification, endorsement or affiliation that you do not have.

Pseudonyms are permitted for ordinary member accounts, but they must not be used to deceive people.

Do not create multiple accounts to:

• Evade enforcement
• Manipulate platform activity
• Pretend that one opinion comes from several people
• Harass another person
• Circumvent blocks or privacy controls

4. WRITE HONEST REVIEWS AND DISCLOSE RELATIONSHIPS

Review fragrances that you have genuinely smelled or used and describe your own experience.

Do not present marketing material, rumours or another person’s review as your personal experience.

Clearly disclose if:

• You received a bottle or sample for free
• You received a discount
• You received payment, commission, travel, services or another benefit
• You work for the relevant brand or seller
• You own, manage or represent the relevant brand or seller
• You have another relationship that may affect your opinion

Use Olfana’s gifted and sponsored disclosures where available. Explain any relevant relationship that those labels do not fully describe.

Do not:

• Coordinate ratings
• Review your own products as an independent member
• Exchange benefits for positive scores
• Pressure another person to change an honest review
• Disguise paid promotion as an independent opinion

Brands must not report legitimate criticism merely because it is negative.

5. NO HARASSMENT, HATE, THREATS OR BULLYING

Do not:

• Harass, stalk, intimidate, shame or repeatedly target another person
• Threaten violence, sexual harm, property damage or disclosure of private information
• Celebrate or encourage harm
• Attack or dehumanise people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or another protected characteristic
• Encourage other people to abuse, mass-report or exclude someone
• Use criticism of a product as an excuse to abuse an individual or protected group

You may criticise ideas, products and public brand conduct, but criticism must not become harassment or hatred.

6. CHILD SAFETY — ZERO TOLERANCE

Olfana has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Never create, upload, request, possess through Olfana, share, link to, describe for a sexual purpose, promote or facilitate:

• Child sexual abuse material
• Sexualised images of a minor
• Grooming or sexual solicitation of a minor
• Attempts to move a minor into private or external communication for sexual purposes
• Sextortion involving a minor
• Trafficking or exploitation of a minor
• Commercial sexual activity involving a minor
• Content that identifies, sexualises or endangers a child

Do not use ordinary family images as a pretext for sexual comments.

Apparent child-safety violations may result in:

• Immediate content removal
• Account termination
• Brand Page termination
• Preservation of relevant evidence
• Reports to appropriate authorities where legally required

Olfana’s complete Child Safety Standards are published separately on its legal and support website.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency or child-protection services. Do not rely on an Olfana report as an emergency service.

7. SEXUAL, VIOLENT AND DISTURBING CONTENT

Do not post:

• Pornography
• Offers of sexual services
• Non-consensual sexual content
• Sexual content involving coercion
• Explicit nudity
• Graphic violence or gore
• Instructions for self-harm
• Encouragement of suicide
• Content encouraging eating disorders
• Content whose primary purpose is to shock or traumatise

Limited, non-graphic discussion of safety, news or personal experiences may be permitted when relevant and handled responsibly.

Never glorify harm or target a vulnerable person.

8. ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, SCAMS, COUNTERFEITS AND DANGEROUS CLAIMS

Do not use Olfana to:

• Sell, obtain or facilitate illegal goods or services
• Commit or facilitate fraud or theft
• Facilitate trafficking or money laundering
• Evade applicable sanctions
• Promote other unlawful activity
• Promote counterfeit fragrances
• Promote deceptive sellers
• Operate fake giveaways
• Conduct phishing
• Distribute malware
• Operate impersonation scams
• Publish deceptive or malicious links

Do not encourage:

• Ingesting fragrance
• Unsafe fragrance application
• Deliberate exposure to allergens
• Other dangerous uses of fragrance products

You may discuss personal reactions, but you must not diagnose a medical condition or present fragrance advice as medical treatment.

Direct health, safety and ingredient questions to manufacturers and qualified professionals.

9. RESPECT COPYRIGHT, TRADEMARKS AND IMAGE RIGHTS

Upload only text, photographs, logos, artwork and other material that you own or have permission to use.

Do not copy product photographs or other protected material from:

• A brand
• A retailer
• A search engine
• A social network
• Another Olfana member
• Any other source

Material being publicly available online does not automatically give you permission to use it.

Do not remove watermarks or conceal the identity of a creator or rights holder.

Do not post a recognisable person’s image without an appropriate legal basis or permission, particularly in a sensitive context.

Brand representatives must have the necessary rights to every logo, cover image, product photograph, description and trademark submitted for a Brand Page or catalogue proposal.

Good-faith commentary and criticism may refer to brands and products where permitted by law.

Rights complaints are handled through the intellectual-property procedure described in Section 12 of the Terms of Use.

10. PROTECT PRIVACY AND PERSONAL INFORMATION

Do not expose or threaten to expose another person’s private information, including:

• Home address
• Private telephone number
• Private email address
• Precise location
• Identity documents
• Financial information
• Passwords or account credentials
• Private workplace information
• Private family information

Do not:

• Trick people into disclosing private information
• Publish private conversations without authority
• Use an image’s background or metadata to identify where someone lives
• Attempt to bypass private accounts
• Circumvent blocks or follow approvals
• Encourage another person to bypass privacy controls

Respect private accounts, blocks and follow approvals.

11. NO SPAM, MANIPULATION OR ABUSIVE AUTOMATION

Do not engage in:

• Repetitive or irrelevant posting
• Bulk following
• Mass mentions
• Engagement farming
• Fake reviews
• Purchased likes or followers
• Coordinated rating manipulation
• Deceptive redirects
• Unauthorised scraping
• Credential testing
• Rate-limit evasion
• Unauthorised bots
• Other abusive automated activity

Do not offer rewards for positive ratings.

Do not make access, refunds or customer support conditional on changing a review.

Genuine members and customers may be invited to share honest feedback, but they must never be told what score or opinion to provide.

12. BRAND PAGE RESPONSIBILITIES

Brand Page owners, admins and editors must:

• Act within their genuine authority
• Keep public identity information accurate
• Keep contact and catalogue information current
• Protect Brand Page management access
• Stop using management access when their authority ends
• Notify Olfana or remove their access when they no longer represent the brand

Brand Page representatives must not:

• Submit material they cannot legally use or license
• Invent product information
• Conceal that a post comes from a brand
• Misuse verification
• Impersonate a competitor
• Suggest that verification means Olfana endorses every claim
• Attempt to bypass the permissions of their assigned management role

Brands may respond to criticism with accurate and respectful information.

They must not:

• Threaten reviewers
• Offer undisclosed benefits
• Coordinate retaliation
• Misuse reports to suppress genuine negative experiences

13. SPONSORED-CONTENT TRANSPARENCY

Olfana-sponsored Brand Page posts must remain clearly labelled.

Do not:

• Hide or contradict the sponsored label
• Edit a promoted post into materially different content
• Recreate paid promotion as an apparently independent member review

Members must disclose reviews that are:

• Paid
• Gifted
• Commissioned
• Connected to another incentive

Sponsorship does not guarantee authenticity, quality or safety and must never alter community-review scores.

14. EXTERNAL LINKS AND COMMERCIAL SOLICITATION

Olfana is not a marketplace.

Ordinary member content must not:

• Sell or solicit fragrance bottles
• Sell or solicit decants or samples
• Sell or solicit unrelated services
• Operate unauthorised giveaways
• Publish affiliate or referral spam

Verified Brand Pages may provide genuine:

• Website links
• Instagram profiles
• WhatsApp destinations
• Contact email addresses

Verified Brand Pages may also use approved sponsored features.

External links must be accurate, safe and relevant.

They must not be used for:

• Phishing
• Malware distribution
• Deceptive redirects
• Counterfeit sales
• Unlawful offers

Any external transaction is between the user and the external seller. Olfana does not process that transaction.

15. REPORTING AND URGENT SAFETY MATTERS

Use available reporting controls for supported:

• Profiles
• Brand Pages
• Reviews
• Comments
• Posts
• Lists
• Layering combinations
• Wear content

Choose the closest report reason and provide concise, relevant details.

Do not file false or retaliatory reports or coordinate mass reporting.

We review reports according to factors including:

• Severity
• Available evidence
• Safety
• Repetition
• Available resources

We do not promise a fixed response time and may not disclose another person’s confidential moderation information.

For an immediate threat or emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency service or law-enforcement authority first.

16. ENFORCEMENT AND REPEAT VIOLATIONS

Depending on the context and severity, Olfana may:

• Warn a user
• Reduce content visibility
• Hide or remove content
• Reject a submission
• Restrict posting or management features
• Remove a Brand Page manager
• Suspend or close a Brand Page
• Suspend or terminate an account
• Preserve relevant evidence
• Notify authorities where legally required

Serious child-safety threats, credible threats of violence, fraud or deliberate attempts to evade enforcement may result in immediate action.

Repeated violations, attempts to evade previous enforcement and patterns of individually lower-level harms may result in stronger action.

We may privately retain restricted content as evidence instead of physically deleting it immediately.

17. APPEALS AND MISTAKES

Moderation decisions may involve incomplete or conflicting evidence.

If an enforcement action affects you and you believe it was incorrect, contact:

Identify the relevant:

• Account
• Brand Page
• Content
• Enforcement action

Provide a concise explanation and any relevant supporting evidence.

Do not send your password or unnecessary sensitive information.

We may:

• Uphold the decision
• Change the decision
• Reverse the decision
• Request additional information

An appeal does not guarantee restoration or a decision within a fixed period.

If an in-app appeal option becomes available, it may be used instead of email.
