Extended Essays 2018 onwards

The Extended Essay is an integral element of the IB Diploma Programme. The essay is an in-depth study of a focused topic within a subject area of student choice. Working on the essay will provide the opportunity to carry out independent research. While choosing a topic students should consider the time (40 hours) and word limit (4000 words) while at the same time paying attention to the availability of resources needed for the topic. Included with the general Extended Essay booklet is the IB Diploma EE deadlines calendar, which includes all the Extended Essay dates and deadlines. Your assigned supervisor will give you a copy of the Extended Essay subject criteria once your Extended Essay has been approved.
