Spaying (for a female) and neutering (for a male) your pets is very important for their well being. Not only does it prevent the birth of unwanted animals, but it helps keep them safe. Having kittens makes cat feel vulnerable, and more likely to display agressive behaviors, as well as causing her extreme physical and emotional stress. A male cat who is fixed is far more likely to stay close to home, instead of escaping outdoors in search of a female. Neutering also helps to prevent numerous behavioral problems, such as spraying, and a tendency to fight with other cats.

A spay or neuter surgery is a very simple, and routine procedure, with minimal to no risk involved. In Spokane, there are several vet clinics who will sterilize a cat for as little as $30, which is far less than the cost of having to raise a litter of kittens.
