As a back-end developer for MCC's Learning Management System, I learned how to handle, manipulate, and secure the database of students, teachers, and administrators. Troubleshooting and fixing bugs in the system as well as maintaining it. I also experienced how to cooperate as a team on a professional level. Adjusting to the work environment along with my colleagues and handling clients. Other than learning how to handle a database through Xampp, the programming languages and software used were familiar to me.
There are two remarkable events that I have experienced during my stay at Melham Construction Corporation. Joining and meeting our team. During the meeting, we were able to meet our leader and the OIC of the IT dept. For me, who's first time to OJT in a company, it felt surreal. I was slowly entering and preparing myself for the industry. Other than the introduction, we were also given our tasks. I was able to utilize my skills in both teamwork and programming. The second remarkable event was meeting our client, the CEO of MCC. As our client, it's important to implement his requests and changes in the LMS. During this event, I realized how to handle clients, listen to their requests and recommendations, and negotiate.
Although I have enjoyed my stay at MCC, I would like to give a recommendation to improve the experience of future interns. Control the number of interns or improve the handling of interns. There are a lot of interns applying and UIP continues to accept them in large batches. Due to the number of interns joining, it becomes harder for the management to handle the assigning of teams and answering inquiries. It's better to accept a number of interns that they can manage and will coincide with the number of interns leaving.
For interns that are planning to apply to Melham Construction Corporation under their Unified Internship Program, I would advise them to finalize their starting and ending date, time shift, and documents before applying. This will allow unnecessary changing of information in their system. In regards to inquiries and documents, it's better to submit them early. It takes time for HR department interns to process the documents or answer your inquiries.
