Student Mom Support Group 9th-12th

Leaders: Katie Bryant and Katie Livingston

For any pregnant student or student mom.  This is a place to build relationships, support each other academically, and to celebrate being a mom. We provide helpful tips and resources as well as speakers to offer practical wisdom, life skills, and support.

 

Gender and Sexuality Alliance 9th-12th

Leader: Rachel Schneider

For any Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer, Questioning or an Ally that is interested in making new friends in the OHVA high school community. This club brings together OHVA high school LGBTQA+ students in a welcoming place to support each other, socialize, be themselves and make new friends.

#BlackLivesMatter 9th-12th

Leader: Tiara Taylor

•   To provide support for our African American students who are suffering from racial injustice.

•   To teach African American students how to survive and be successful in a white society.

•   To educate about the Black Lives Matter movement and our human rights.

•   To increase our pride and our knowledge of Black history.


Art Break (Relax and Unwind with Artmaking) 9th-12th

Leader: Jen Patton and Katie Livingston

This group explores ways to feel better through artmaking. The purpose of this group is to help promote healthy coping strategies through the arts. We will explore how art can help us focus on and process feelings and bring a sense of relaxation.


Community & Unity Crew (9th-12th)

We cultivate a crew of compassionate and empowered leaders by instilling and practicing the fundamental pillars of C.U.L.T.U.R.E. (C=Community, U=Unity, L=Leadership, T=Teamwork, U=Understanding, R=Respect, E=Equity)

Cornerstone of Hope

Leader: Amber Stretar, Sarah Bell

 In-school grief support groups are available to students who have experienced the death of a loved one. This grief support group is designed to allow students to come together and receive age-appropriate grief support amongst the familiarity of their schoolmates. Students will gain a better understanding of the grief process and learn healthy ways to cope with their feelings of grief Cornerstone Grief Center provides FREE grief groups to school districts all over the state. -The groups will be led by a grief expert and grade level appropriate. -The group will be 6-8 weeks in length and held virtual. -One Cornerstone grief leader, one OHVA School Counselor, and students will be in each group. There will be required paperwork sent by the group leader after their referral has been accepted.
