Advocacy helps the Ocean Action Project turn important preservation ideas into reality. There are a variety of ways local initiatives can make a difference, such as organizing bleach cleanup efforts, however without the support of local, state, and national leaders these efforts won’t have the extensive impact that the OAP seeks. By partnering with other non-profit organizations and speaking with leaders at all levels of government, the OAP seeks to start a grassroots effort to help preserve our oceans and beaches in the following ways:
Advancing legislation to protect vulnerable ecosystems and environments
Helping local governments secure funding for beach preservation initiatives
Increasing awareness of important ocean issues among lawmakers
Supporting local communities in becoming more active citizens
