You are not registered if you have not completed both steps.

It should only take approx 5 mins to register.

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE ON FRIDAY 1ST MARCH 2024 AT 3PM

Once registration closes, players are then sorted into teams, coaches/managers assigned and players will be advised.

Teams will practice each week subject to coaches discretion and availability.

Volunteers are always needed/welcomed for all age grades and we will be requesting parent help.

Further information below regarding games dates and game info.

Game Day Scoring & Umpiring for Yr 7 & 8

Scoring App - Years 7 & 8 use an online scoring app. We require 2 volunteers per team to share responsibility for scoring for their child's team. The app is very straight forward and easy to use.

Umpires - Each team requires a registered umpire on game day. This is typically a parent or an umpire which the team sorts itself. There may be an extra fee involved if the team decides to organise their own external umpire to pay. OJSC will host an umpire session to help assist with anyone wanting to learn more.

Fixture information

Information on the draws, results, timing and location of games can be found each week on Netball Taranaki's website (http://www.netballtaranaki.org.nz/).

Further Information on age grades for players

Yr 3 & 4 - ANZ Future FERNS

Played Thursdays after school at Waiwhakaiho Netball Courts during Term 2.

Season starts Thursday 2nd May - 4th July 2024.

The focus for this age group is on learning the basics with players joining in a skill development session prior to a modified netball game of 5 v 5, using two-thirds of a netball court.  It’s designed to be fast and fun, maximising participation and touches of the ball.

This is part of the Netball New Zealand initiative.

Yr 5 & 6 - ANZ Future FERNS

Played Tuesdays after school at Waiwhakaiho Netball Courts during Term 2. Season starts Tuesday 30th April- 2nd July 2024.

The focus is on continued ‘learning’ of netball as Junior players will have an increased enthusiasm to learn but still want to have fun and experience the game with their friends.

Netball continues to be modified for this age group but there is the first introduction of 6 v 6 game play. This involves full court play with relaxed umpiring.  The focus is on player rotation to prevent early specialisation of positions. Players are continuing to develop both physically, technically and socially so it is important to give them the opportunity to play a wide range of positions on the court, regardless of their physical attributes. Players should have lots of touches of the ball and be actively involved to best develop their skills.

This is part of the Netball New Zealand initiative.

Yr 7 & 8 - ANZ Future FERNS

Played on Saturdays at Waiwhakaiho Netball Courts from late Term 1, all Term 2 & part of Term 3 . Sat 6th April - 10th August 2024.

Satellite Pre-season Game Day is on Saturday 23rd March.

Closing Day Tournament is on Saturday 17th August 2024.

See the calendar on http://www.netballtaranaki.org.nz/ for more information.

These players are transitioning from ‘learning’ to ‘participating’ in Netball (7 v 7 game).  Players have a wide range of skill levels and aspirations as they develop at differing rates.  Enjoyment and fun are still key drivers for participation, but at the same time performance, challenge and improvement are often key motivators. To ensure players have the opportunity to apply their skills and stay motivated, competitive events are recommended but the emphasis is still on improving rather than winning.

This is part of the Netball New Zealand initiative.
