In order to streamline payments and registrations for football, please only use Sporty - please do not use Kindo for football registrations.
Please note that you are not registered if you have not completed the Sporty Form.
Once all registrations are received then players are sorted into teams and coaches/managers assigned - volunteers are always needed/welcomed for all age grades.
Final team lists are usually circulated by the end of term 1.
Information on the timing and location of Saturday games can be found each week on http://www.centralfootball.co.nz/taranaki/fixtures-results-and-standings-5. The draw is usually completed just before the start of term 2 and players/coaches need to check this each week as fixtures often change through the season.
First Kicks is for players who turn 5 or 6 in the calendar year of registration. The teams meet at a Junior Hub each Saturday morning at Oakura School and have one or two fun skills sessions followed by a modified, small-sided (4-a-side) game on a small pitch. The focus is on fun and being part of a team for players of this age whilst they discover the game, learn some basic fundamental movement skills and have an overall positive experience.
Fun Football is for players who turn 7 or 8 in the calendar year of registration. The teams meet at a Junior Hub each Saturday morning at Oakura School and have one or two fun skills sessions followed by two modified, small-sided (5-a-side) games on a small pitch. As with Fun Football, the focus is on fun and being part of a team for players of this age whilst they develop their skills and a love for the game.
Mini Football is for players who turn 9 to 10 in the calendar year of registration. The teams are 7-a-side for 9 and 10 year olds. The games are played both home and away around Taranaki on Saturday morning, with the pitch size being approximately half of a full football pitch. The home ground is usually one of the following: Oakura School, Corbett Park, Omata School. These grades of football have a growing emphasis placed on the learning of football skills within the context of the game. In accordance with NZ Football's 2021 objectives - there will be no grading or "top" team selection in these grades.
In 2022, a girls-only league was also introduced for some of these grades.
Please see https://www.kaitakefc.co.nz/join/register for more information.
OJSC Football does not formally organise summer football but there are usually summer programmes run in New Plymouth for those who are interested in putting together a team.
New Plymouth Rangers usually runs a Junior soccer programme in Term 4 that has a separate intake for Term 1 of the following year - teams can play in one or both terms. To be involved you need to put together a team and register with the summer soccer coordinators at Rangers. Information will be posted on OJSC Facebook when this opens.
