All players, referees, umpires, managers, coaches, parents and spectators should play with the following ideals in mind:
Respect the rules.
Respect the officials and accept their decisions.
Respect the opponent.
Have a concern for equal opportunity.
Respect the team.
Be gracious winners and dignified losers.
Co-operate with others and treat them with respect.
Have fun; develop your own skills while accepting your limits.
Know the rules and follow the principles of fair play.
Accept the Official’s decision without dissent, even if you do not think they are right.
Use no coarse language.
Attend as many practices as possible.
Appreciate and co-operate with your coach, team mates and officials.
Co-operate with others (players and the other officials) and treat them with respect.
Know the rules and apply them fairly.
Accept other Official’s decisions without dissent, even if you do not think they are right.
Coarse language is unacceptable.
Set a positive example.
Teach the values of sportsmanship to your team.
Never argue with officials in front of players or spectators.
Discourage a ‘win at all costs’ attitude.
Encourage all players to participate.
Give reasonably equal playing time to all players.
Respect the talent, developmental stage and goals of each player in order to help each player reach their full potential.
Never force children to participate - only encourage.
Talk to your child/player. Encourage them. Are they having fun?
Are they learning that being fair and developing new skills are important?
Do not encroach onto the playing area.
Recognise and value the importance of coaches and other volunteers who give their time and resources to the game – they deserve your support.
