The Learning Progressions Framework

Day 1 Day 2

About the learning progression Frameworks

"The learning progression frameworks for reading, writing, and mathematics support teachers to plan programmes that recognise and strengthen the reading, writing, and mathematics competencies of their students.

The learning progression frameworks will help by:

  • prompting teachers to notice what students know and can do across the breadth of reading, writing, and mathematics

  • supporting teachers to understand how expertise develops in reading, writing, and mathematics

  • helping teachers to identify the reading, writing, and mathematics demands of the programmes they provide for students

  • clarifying the reading, writing, and mathematics competencies students require in order to be successful in a technology- and information-rich society."

Each aspect is then broken down into key learning steps.

Behind each step you will find sets of annotated exemplars of student responses to a task. The last step in each aspect shows what is expected of students by the end of Year 10.

The Learning Progression Frameworks is also available as an App for your phone or tablet.
